Teacher Voice Network

The Hope Street Group is currently accepting applications for the North Carolina Teacher Voice Network. The network provides teachers with opportunities to meet leading policymakers and present them with solutions for elevating the teaching profession. Members of the network stay in their classrooms full time and work with Hope Street Group 10-15 hours each month. Network members receive a $3,500 stipend for the 12-month commitment. Teachers with interest and experience in teacher leadership and education policy are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are due April 10, 2015.

More details on the Teacher Voice Network are available on the official application website.Any questions may be directed to Wendy Uptain at [email protected].

Local School Calendar Authority

We have recently partnered with L.O.C.A.L. (Let Our Calendar Authority be Local) in order to support local school calendar authority in North Carolina.

With all of the weather related school closures over the past few weeks, it is a critical time to show your support! Please take a minute to check out their website to learn more and to sign the petition.

Exciting Opportunities

Webinars Help Educators Find Solutions

Looking for feedback from peers from other districts? Teams or individuals may now participate in Cross-district Strategic Solutions statewide topic-based forums. The purpose of Cross-district Strategic Solutions sessions is to build a problem-solving, solution-generating Professional Learning Network of educators open to district leaders, administrators, teachers and coaches across the state. Educator Effectiveness PD Leads will assist you with facilitating the process. During the forum sessions, teams or individuals introduce a challenging issue and receive feedback from other participants across the state.  Each forum session is held in the late afternoon. 2015 Envirothon

The North Carolina Envirothon takes place April 24-25, 2015. The Envirothon is an annual competition in which middle school and high school teams compete for recognition and scholarships by demonstrating their knowledge of environmental science and natural resource management. The teams, each consisting of five students from participating schools, home study groups and environmental clubs, exercise their training and problem-solving skills in a competition centered on five testing categories: soils/land use, aquatic ecology, forestry, wildlife and current environmental issues.
