PENC offers a variety of workshops throughout the year, covering such topics as National Board Certification, Literacy, Financial Planning, Retirement Planning, and Professional Development.
National Board Workshops
We will be offering numerous FREE National Board Workshops throughout this membership year. The tentative schedule for 2016-17 National Board workshops is below. Registration will open 1-2 months prior to the workshop date.

HELPS Literacy Workshops
The Helping Early Literacy with Practice Strategies (HELPS) Program is an easy-to-use reading program that has been demonstrated in numerous, published research studies to improve students’ fluency and comprehension. HELPS can be implemented one-on-one or in small groups, and is shown to be effective when used for only 10 minutes per day, three times per week. Increasing Student Engagement with Reading in the Home and at School
Learn how to empower families to effectively improve their children's literacy skills with fun, research-supported, and easy-to-use activities. The activities can be used by teachers, as well as by parents in the home. They are designed for children from birth to 6th grade, to support the development of strong reading skills.

Retirement Planning Conferences
The Department of State Treasurer Retirement Systems Division conducts free retirement conferences year-round for members of the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System.
