PENC Wants to Visit Your School!

Would you and your fellow staff members be interested in having a PENC representative visit your school? We would love to bring breakfast along with information about PENC to share with your colleagues, answer any questions and get to know you better. Please check with your principal regarding a visit from PENC, then fill out this form

Teacher Opinion Survey from NC Teacher Voice Network

The Hope Street Group NC Teacher Voice Network, including PENC members Akinyi Edmonds, Trey Ferguson, and Myra Creech, is working with the Department of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education to collect teacher opinion on a variety of topics related to Educator Effectiveness.  Please take this brief survey between October 2 and October 11:  Hope Street Group will follow up with PENC on how the data will be used to improve education policy in North Carolina, so stay tuned to hear the value of your voice.

Educator Effectiveness

Principal READY Sessions Launch in November
The fall Principal READY Meetings are scheduled regionally in November and December, 2015. The 2014-15 EE System data, new legislation, Analysis of Student Work (ASW) and student surveys are topics covered in these sessions. Participants will interact with various data points including EVAAS and student growth data using a PLN framework. Breakout sessions are differentiated and focus on the needs of principals in each region based on feedback shared with Service Support Teams. Registration begins October 5. Register here.

Round 2 Fall Sessions: Facilitated Online Courses
FREE Online module courses will start Monday, October 19. Registration opens October 5 and is limited to 35 participants per section, so register early! These courses are facilitated by the Educator Effectiveness staff and can be accessed here.

Online Modules and Self-Paced Mini Modules
Each of these online modules are 5-hour, self-paced modules [.5 CEUs]. Modules are available through the NCEES / Home Base system using your usual login or the alternate log in, located here.

The 2016 LGFCU Emerging Issues High School Prize for Innovation challenges teams of high school students to create new, exciting ways to engage other high school-aged students—particularly those at risk of dropping out—in volunteer opportunities in their schools or community. Learn more here.
